Philo of Alexandria and his treatise On the Giants

Abstract

This contribution offers the first Russian translation of the treatise of Philo of Alexandria On the Giants and anew commentary on this treatise. In an introductory article the author discusses the main idea of Philo’s interpretation and shows in what measure Philo’s dissertation on Gen. 6:1–4 is connected to the Jewish extra-canonical and Platonic traditions.
