Abstract

This publication is based on the materials of a panel discussion, held on March 11 2022, as part of the panel “Reason and Rationality from the Perspective of the History of Philosophy”. Four scholars, specialists in different philosophical traditions (D.V. Bugai – Ancient Greece; S.Yu. Rykov – Ancient China; N.N. Trubnikova – Japan; M.T. Stepanyants – India), offered their answers to the question of whether it is possible to speak of a common notion of reason and rationality in the light of the difference in the understanding of these phenomena in various intellectual and cultural traditions. The panel discussion consists of an introduction, contributions of each of the participants and a closing discussion.
