The article is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Erikh Yu. Soloviov, a prominent Russian historian of philosophy. His legacy is reconstructed: a holistic approach to the legal heritage of I. Kant, a special understanding and realization of historicity in the hermeneutics of philosophical classics, an assessment of the historical significance of the Soviet “philosophers of the sixties,” the generation to which Soloviov himself belongs. Erich Iurievich’s research in the history of philosophy allows us to talk about his intellectual work not only as a legacy, but also as a project: as a reflexive attitude that can influence the creativity of researchers in the present and in the future. It is realized in a conscious student’s attitude to the classics, which makes it possible not to confuse timeliness with relevance; in the idea of the responsibility of every historian of philosophy to raise and answer on his own the question of what the history of philosophy is; in an orientation towards journalism in historian of philosophy’s work.
